Timewarp; May 27

So May 27, another possibly insignificant day to you. But it meant something to me. May 27 2011 was a friday night, it was the last friday night of the holidays, it was my friend Jemma's 22nd birthday party. It was also the day I dress as a navy woman in the most adorable nautical dress in the history of my wardrobe.

Now that it was almost a month ago I don't remember the details of the night. In fact besides the little sketch of my outfit in my journal there's just one line "---- kissed me!"

So, a seemingly normal day for many was a day of butterflies in my stomach and wide eyes. A day of daydreams and wonder. A day when I got to, if just for a moment, get to bump lips with a man I've had a crush on for a while. I think it was definitely the outfits doing...

Dress: Nautical themed Gossip Girl dress from eBay.
Shoes: Red twist flats from Target.
Red belt from Temt.
Skin-colour stockings.
Vintage Pearl Necklace from my mother.
Red Lipstick by Clinique.

In any event I had a great night out, and I didn't even drink! (Mostly because I was/am broke)
We had drinks at Aroma Garden (or the Usual Place) and then much later, migrated to the Valley to go dancing. I don't remember the club we went to at first but we ended up in Kaliber, which plays the music of our youth, but that's about it's only good point, it's a favourite bar of my friends and she wanted to dance.

The lowlight of my evening was a rather large woman stomping (for lack of a more appropriate word) on my foot in her high heels at the bar. The bruise stayed there for weeks.

The highlight came when I was waiting for the train station to open for the 3:5o AM train, and I saw one of my friends from Uni step out of the bushes behind the HotDog stand on his phone. When I talked to him he told me he'd spent his night going into every strip club in the Valley looking for his friend.

All in all it was a wonderful night. I enjoyed myself, while sober and had a good dance. Laughed at some of the pick-up lines some of the blokes used on me, related to my outfit. But I'll save them for the "Pick Up Lines You Should Never Use On Me Again" rant I plan to write sometime soon.

Until then. Much Love.
